Summary
I had the opportunity to chat with Luke Garner, the Copywriting Manager for BALI, about our journey in the landscaping industry, particularly our success among football's elite. This conversation allowed me to reflect on Northhort Ltd's growth from humble beginnings.
We explored my background and passion for landscaping, often overlooked amidst success.
I am grateful for BALI's platform that enables us to showcase our work, and I look forward to future achievements, like the BALI awards in 2026. A love for the outdoors and staying committed to one's beliefs can lead to amazing experiences and connections. Please continue reading, and I hope you find it as informative and beneficial as I have enjoyed over the years.
Background
We discussed my background and what drew me to landscaping, which was really interesting as it's something you tend to forget—how far you've come and what initially ignited the passion to start in this industry.
Being a BALI Member
We touched on the importance of being a BALI member. I believe it gives clients peace of mind that they are dealing with a reputable company that takes professionalism and business acumen very seriously. A strict vetting procedure ensures we take the correct precautions to keep ourselves informed and ensure safety and all elements of the business are taken care of.

DBS and Confidentiality
One of the main reasons we have done so well is our strict confidentiality policy, which we take very seriously. From signing NDAs to in-house policies, our clients' discretion is of the utmost importance to us, and trust is crucial in our line of work.

''The first couple of years I was hiring on experience, but its how they conduct themselves that truly matters''
Quality Before Quantity
As in most cases within the grounds maintenance sector, volume and quantity often surpass quality, and over time, people forget why they started. However, I have kept to my principles and maintained the mindset of creating a company that caters to a specific clientele that values quality at the forefront, which I believe continues to contribute to our success in business in general.
Values Align
I always ensure that decisions in publishing are based on alignment with our values, and remember that money isn't everything. It's crucial that these values align with the company's ethics and what we stand for as a business. Simply adding a price tag without ensuring that customers and teams are satisfied with the final product is not the path to success. You want to ensure your client is delighted every time with the service and the quality of value provided.
If the first and main question is about cost, it's not because we want more money. If money is the most important element before ensuring quality and safety, then it's not for us. We have always moved away from contracts that don't align with our values, so stick to what you believe in, and the right clientele will follow.
Some of Our Best Work You Can't See!
In terms of showcasing our work, some of the best projects and sites you can't see! This is solely for the confidentiality of our clients, and word of mouth is what we rely on as a company.
This was a great experience, and we have been reported on a few times with a lot of great feedback on various platforms, with people finding interest in this niche area we have become renowned for.
So, I'd like to thank BALI for such an amazing opportunity to showcase what we do as a company and to many more years ahead. We look forward to seeing you all in 2026 at the NALI awards. Watch this space!
