The iconic Beech Towers of St Ann's Parade, Wilmslow
6 Aug 2024
We have thoroughly enjoyed performing the annual pruning of these iconic mature beech towers (Latin name Fagus sylvatica), which stand proudly in the heart of Wilmslow town centre.
This tradition has become a valued part of our routine, allowing us to interact with these magnificent specimens that not only beautify the town but also play a crucial role in the local ecosystem. Each year, we carefully assess the health and structure of these trees, ensuring our methods promote their longevity and vitality while safeguarding the wildlife.
These trees are a haven for birds due to their dense foliage and mature framework, making them ideal nesting sites.
The beech trees, with their smooth grey bark and lush green leaves, have become symbols of the area, attracting both residents and wildlife alike. During pruning, we meticulously remove dead or diseased branches to prevent the spread of pests and diseases, while also encouraging new growth.
The beech towers enhance the urban landscape by providing a touch of nature and greenery within the town centre and also serve as habitats for various bird species and other wildlife, making our work even more rewarding. We take great pride in maintaining these stunning specimens, ensuring they continue to thrive for generations to come.
